Proper management of medication intake is an important issue and if we do not follow the medical regimen correctly, it can lead to significant health problems. If we take into account aspects such as that people with chronic diseases and elderly people with multiple pathologies may require the taking of a high number of medications, which is frequent, changes in treatment or memory losses make the management of medication a complex task. After testing the application for more than a month, it can be said that Calendula can be a very useful tool to help us in this task.

The main feature of the application are the reminders to notify us of taking medication. It is precisely this time to add a reminder that is somewhat confusing and it can take a while to become familiar with the terms of shots, guidelines, routines and how they interrelate. Once this point is saved, the notices are clear and allow a very wide customization.

                Reminders screen

            Guidelines creation screen

When you open the application, the main screen shows us very clearly the medications and the time of the next medications. As a recommendation for improvement, it would be very useful if the application had a widget that allows you to see this information at a glance without having to enter the application.

                    Starting screen

A very positive aspect is that the application allows to manage the medication of several patients at the same time in a very simple way, each one with their own medications, guidelines and reminders. Each patient is differentiated by name and can be chosen from pre-established images. This possibility is very practical for caregivers and family members who can manage their own medication and / or the medication of the people they care for. A small improvement in this aspect is that the photo of the patient's profile could be chosen instead of having to choose between the already established images.

                 Patient list

To use Calendula, no prior registration is necessary, and all the information is stored on the phone itself, so no personal data is sent.

Regarding accessibility, we recommend increasing the contrast of the text with respect to the screen background on some screens and improving navigation for screen readers.

The tests have been carried out with two mobiles with Android 8.0 operating system. And beyond the recommendations for improvement, Calendula is a useful, recommended application that is also free.
