Nokia 105 Dual SIM senior phone

Below is the video of the review.

What does it consist of:

The Nokia 105 Dual SIM terminal is a low-cost and relatively easy-to-use terminal. Due to its size and simplicity in some of its functions, it can be considered a terminal indicated for the elderly. The terminal, in addition to incorporating the possibility of its use with dual SIM, includes basic functionalities such as alarm, flashlight or FM radio for a very competitive price.

Technical assessment:

July 2019,

Buttons and physical appearance

The phone is robust and has a shape and size that is intended to fit the palm of the hand, overall it is a lightweight and easy to carry phone.

This design is missing a side button for volume control.

The buttons, although with relief and some separation, are not as large and differentiable as in other models adapted for the elderly and the central button with cross movement and confirmation does not convince us because many times even exerting pressure on its central zone is not able to confirm your keystroke.

Menu and texts

On the different menu screens that are displayed, the type is relatively small and the contrasts are not very strong in some sections

Call volume and quality

The volume is not too high nor can the audio quality be comparable to that of higher-end terminals or some designed specifically for the elderly.

The phone does not have a speaker for use as a hands-free call.

SMS

The mode of writing and sending messages is simple and precisely this screen if it presents a high contrast greater than that of the menus in general.

Manual

The terminal does not include a manual in Spanish, only French, German and Italian, its inclusion would be highly recommended. In any case, if there is a fairly complete online guide in Spanish:

FM radio and audio playback

The FM radio does not come with built-in headphones and requires additional ones with a Jack connector. The radio has a fairly acceptable audio quality and tunes in the surrounding stations well.

charging station

The phone does not have a charging station. Although it incorporates a micro USB charger that is relatively easy to connect, we consider the inclusion of a charging base in this type of terminal very useful.

Lantern

The phone has an LED flashlight on the top that is activated by one of the main menu icons.

Battery

The 800mAh battery that is included with the terminal has a very long autonomy, being able to last up to 15 hours in conversation and up to a whopping 21 days in standby without the need to charge.

Alarm, calendar and calculator

The alarm is configured in a simple way and allows to include up to 5 different inputs with configurable tones.

The calendar, called “agenda” in the menu, makes it easy to add reminders.

The calculator is operated with the cross-shaped button and allows simple operations.

Games

The phone incorporates games like the classic Nokia Snake. But you have to be careful because some of them are not free and include an option to be purchased through SMS. We believe that payment options should be restricted in terminals intended for seniors. In addition, we consider that within the menu all games should be contained in the same folder called "games" to facilitate their identification.

dual SIM

The phone incorporates the possibility of inserting 2 SIM cards to have the possibility of using different operators.

Accessibility

Accessibility for people with vision difficulties has to be checked when presenting the menus with small text and low contrast.

There is no HAC compatibility for hearing aids.

Conclusion

The Nokia 105 Dual SIM is a terminal that can offer certain functionalities such as calls and messages with some extras for a very reasonable price. If what you are looking for is a cheap, lightweight mobile phone, to stay connected, this is a very suitable option. If what you are looking for is a terminal that offers other security functions such as the SOS button, or a higher-end terminal, you can consult other options within our website.
